These 1st Graders are now Earth Day Experts! They completed an Earth Day Challenge from our story, Ready Freddy Saves the Earth. They did things like turning off the water when brushing their teeth, using a reusable water bottle, turning off lights, and picking up trash (all on their own time)!! Way to Go Green Team!! #earthday🌎

Some more pictures of the 2nd graders field trip today. We also got to visit the Yellow Brick Road to go with our Wizard of Oz book study, got ice cream at Aunt B's, visited the Howard State Bank and learned about the vault. Thank you to all who made this trip possible, and also to Cynthia Hills for the kids' old time pencils! Such a good keepsake!

His activities included Band, Magic Gathering Club, Math Team, Scholars Bowl, Lion’s Club Band Camp, Football, Basketball and student elementary aide program. INTERVIEW: What year did you begin school at CVS? Remington: That was back in Kindergarten. What are your next steps? Remington: To go into the workforce Who is someone special that you would like to give a shoutout to? Reminton: I would say all my teachers, they are the people that always yelled at me to do my best..like Mr. Harber. What is your favorite school memory? Remington: The time when Brandy and I were really annoying Mr. Werner What are you most excited for next? Remington: going on our family Jamaica trip What are your views on success? Remington: Success to me is achieving your goals that you put forth in life. Do you have any advice for those entering high school? Remington: Avoid ‘Come to Jesus Meetings’ with Mr. Harber, do what he says and get your work done, don’t be too rowdy. How strict would you say that your parents were during high school? Remington: depends on what part, grades, pretty strict but doing activities and what not they weren’t that strict on me. Who Was Your Favorite Teacher? Remington: Overall, Mr. Harber, I was able to do ‘nerd’ stuff with him What Was Your Favorite Toy Growing Up? Remington: I had a lot of toys but probably hot wheels and/or legos, still today I will play with them. What is the best advice you’ve received? Remington: Probably to never give up no matter what kind of hardships that you are going through. What song do you just have to sing along with when you hear it? Remington: It is hard to choose just one, overall I would go with “People So Stupid” by Tom MacDonald Congratulations Remington!! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU

This weeks 2023 Senior Class Spot light: Brooklyn Duncan Brooklyn is the daughter of Keri Batemon and Caleb Duncan. Her activities included Band, STUCO, Class Secretary/Treasure, student elementary aide program and our dual credit program. INTERVIEW: What year did you begin school at CVS? Brooklyn: I remember it like it was yesterday, it was the 100th Day of School in kindergarten. Do you have any college credits or certifications earned during HS? Brooklyn: yes I have earned 10 college credits What are your next steps? Brooklyn: My next step is to attend WSU and get my degree in Dental Hygiene Who is someone special that you would like to give a shoutout to? Brooklyn: I would have to say my Dad, he doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves. Whenever I tell him about something, he is always supportive. When I have a rough time, he’s stern and friendly and always helps me through it. He always tells me to go higher than what is expected of me. What is your favorite school memory? Brooklyn: I am going to get in trouble for saying this, but it was when I checked out of school to go home and eat a bowl of spaghetti OR It is whenever we were going to Manhattan at 6 in the morning and I slipped and completely fell face first into the van’s floor. What are you most excited for next? Brooklyn: I am excited about where life is going to take me, the adventures I am going to go on and what I will accomplish. What are your views on success? Brooklyn: You can’t sit around and wait for success to fall into your lap, you have to work for it. Do you have any advice for those entering high school? Brooklyn: Umm, it’s not as hard as people make it seem, don’t be afraid to ask for help, my biggest regret is not asking for help. How strict would you say that your parents were during high school? Brooklyn: Not strict at all, I knew my boundaries and as long as I did my chores and asked. Who Was Your Favorite Teacher? Brooklyn: My favorite teacher was second grade, Ms. Nesvarbar, she always brought this bright character into the classroom and made you want to come to school. What Was Your Favorite Toy Growing Up? Brooklyn: Lincoln Logs, my grandma always had them at her house. What is the best advice you’ve received? Brooklyn: I would have to say it was a text my dad just sent me yesterday, He said, “You decide your getting by fine with where you are and you just don’t advance, just don’t stop with college, go higher than what’s expected of you”. What song do you just have to sing along with when you hear it? Brooklyn: Definitely Glamorous by Fergie Congratulations Brooklyn!! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU
